What's new: receipts, invoices, offers, and service sites
· 3 min read
BatchDrop started with drops: a batch, a window, a text. Plenty of people who use it also do work that is not a batch — a regular order between drops, a job on a route, a quote for next month. This round of changes is for that work. Everything below is live unless it says otherwise.
Orders outside a drop
On every plan you can add an order yourself from the Orders page or from a customer's page, for an existing customer or a new one. Lines come from your catalogue or are typed as free text, with an option to save a typed line to the catalogue. You can mark an order fulfilled before it is paid. A new customer added this way is not opted in to texts.
Receipts, automatically
When you mark an order paid — cash, Venmo, Zelle, or other — a receipt is issued and sent on its own, on every plan. Receipts are numbered per store, RCP-0001 onward. They go by email if the customer has one, otherwise by text, unless the customer has replied STOP. If a text cannot be sent, the receipt's page in your dashboard shows why, and you can copy its link to share by hand or resend by email or text. More in Venmo, Zelle, cash.
Invoices, on Pro and Business
Issue an invoice from an unpaid order you added yourself, numbered INV-0001 onward. Set a due date and it becomes a follow-up for that day. Marking the invoice or the order paid settles both and sends a receipt. Invoices cannot be edited after they are sent; to correct one, void it with a reason and issue a new one. Customers cannot pay an invoice online yet — the page says "Awaiting payment" — and they are web pages and emails, not PDFs. More in Invoices for route businesses.
Offers
A one-off text of up to 300 characters to every opted-in customer, on every plan. It arrives with your store name in front and the opt-out line at the end. Offers count toward your monthly allowance, and one that would not fit in what you have left is refused before it starts. More in Offer or drop?.
Service sites and Today
A new store setting, What do you do?, takes maker, service, or both. It only changes defaults, never what you can use.
Choose service and your dashboard opens on Today: your customers, follow-ups due, unread texts, and your last offer. Drops and Products step out of the menu. Choose both and you get drop stats alongside due follow-ups.
Your public page changes too. A service site shows your tagline, a description, your city and state, a phone number, a Request a quote or visit form, and a box to sign up for texts. A quote request creates the customer — not opted in to texts — and a follow-up due that day, so it lands on Today. There is no booking or calendar; you reply and arrange the visit yourself.
In development
Two things are being built and are not available yet:
- Online card payments. They will carry a small per-transaction fee, published before you can switch them on. Until then, customers pay you directly and you mark orders paid.
- WhatsApp messaging, planned for Pro and Business.
We will post here when either is ready. If something above is not working the way this says, tell us.
