How a drop works

From draft to done. You open the drop and send the announcement; it closes itself on time.

  1. 1

    Draft

You add what you are making, how many, and when it opens and closes. Add a pickup address, and put which door and what hours in the drop’s description. Both show on the drop page before anyone orders. Until you open the drop, nobody sees it.

  2. 2

    Open

When you’re ready, open it and send the announcement to your list with one tap. Orders come in against your quantity limits.

  3. 3

    Closed

BatchDrop closes it on time — at your closing time ordering stops by itself, or you can close it early. You have a final list of who ordered what.

  4. 4

    Fulfilled

After pickup you mark the drop fulfilled and it moves into your history.

If something goes wrong

A drop can be cancelled at any point before it is fulfilled. Every order stays in your dashboard, so you can see who already paid you and pay them back the same way — no digging back through a group text.

What your customers see

The same drop, from the other side of the text.

  1. Step 1

    They get the text

The announcement goes out with your store name and a link to order.

  2. Step 2

    They open your page

Your public page shows what is in the drop, the prices, your description, and the pickup address.

  3. Step 3

They sign in with a code

BatchDrop texts them a one-time code. No password, no account to set up.

  4. Step 4

    They order within your limits

They pick what they want up to your quantity limits, with one open order per drop. The pickup address and your description are right there on the page.

  5. Step 5

They see it in My Orders

Once signed in, customers have a history of what they ordered from you.

After the drop

Two buttons on each order close the loop with your customer.

Mark an order fulfilled
The customer gets a fulfilment text unless they have texted STOP. You can mark an order fulfilled before it is paid.
Mark an order paid
Record how they paid — cash, Venmo, Zelle, or other — and a numbered receipt goes out automatically, by email if you have their address and by text if you do not.

Orders outside a drop

Not everything comes in through a drop. A one-off cake, a regular who calls ahead, a job you quoted on the phone.

On every plan you can create an order from the Orders page in your dashboard or from a customer’s page, using your products or lines you type in. Marking it paid sends the same numbered receipt. On Pro and Business you can also issue an invoice from an unpaid order, with an optional due date. Customers cannot pay invoices online yet; you mark them paid when the money arrives.

Texts BatchDrop sends for you

The drop announcement goes out when you tap send. These go out when you mark an order or issue an invoice, with nothing more to do.

  • A fulfilment text when you mark an order fulfilled.
  • A receipt when you mark an order paid, by text when the customer has no email address on file.
  • On Pro and up, an invoice when you issue one for an order outside a drop, by text when the customer has no email address on file.

All of these count toward your monthly message allowance, and they are never held back by it: only an announcement or an offer that would go over what you have left is refused. Consent still applies. Nobody who has texted STOP gets a text, and an invoice goes by text only to a customer who has opted in to your texts.
